Summary
This position is responsible for interacting with Customer Service, Scheduling, Material Planning, Purchasing, Logistics and Manufacturing to meet customers’ expectations on deliveries, as well as resolving logistical and operational issues in timely manners. This position will develop metrics and reports demonstrating market and customer performance in terms of bookings, revenues, delivery performance and customer satisfaction for internal as well as external utilization. This position will also proactively trouble-shoot operational issues or delays and recommend resolutions to Department Managers to better serve our key Customers. Overall, the Market Specialist will impact the organization through improved customer experience and dedicated support which in turn leads to increased customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Responsibilities
- A key focus on order management – scheduling guidance, forecasting, expedite requests, checking bookings for accuracy, resolving ship and manufacturing holds to meet monthly revenue plan
- Creates reporting formats and delivers, sometimes presenting, reports to key customers. Such reports include delivery performances, forecasts, quality metrics, inventory risks, manufacturing capacities, etc.
- Creates reporting formats, supporting internal management team, including the Department Managers, Product Managers, Business Unit General Managers and the company President, related to the performance of key Customer accounts. These reports may include inventory, lead times, on-time-delivery metrics, customer complaints, revenues, bookings, backlogs, etc.
- Establish key measurables with input from Product Managers and Department Managers and coordinate with cross-functional team members to achieve targets. Recommend improvements to Department Managers to achieve key metrics.
- Engage in daily production meetings with cross-functional team, consisting of Scheduling, Material Planning, Purchasing, Logistics and Manufacturing with the goal of identifying and resolving all obstacles early so that customer satisfaction can be achieved, including disposition of manufacturing errors. Provide guidance on priority of orders for operations team as required.
- Escalate issues in operations that could detrimentally affect customer satisfaction to respective Department Managers and pursue resolution.
- Ensure information such as lead times, pricing, and product details are updated in AFL systems (Oracle/CPQ/Salesforce/etc.)
- Control and maintain customer-specific stock for key customers. Resolve problems related to logistics, customer service and support.
- Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL.
- Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Requirements
- 4-year college degree in any discipline or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 5 years of working experience or minimum 2 years within AFL
- 5 years in fiber optic manufacturing preferred
- 5 years in Customer Service is preferred
- 5 years of project management experience preferred
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Advanced level of MS Excel; proficient usage of additional MS Office Products – Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Available to work beyond 5:00 pm as needed
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and under tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and report writing skills
- Must have a strong interest in servicing the Customer
- Ability to work with and guide cross-functional and cross-cultural teams
- Must have a strong interest in operational excellence, performance metrics and data analysis
