Alcyon, Inc a wholly owned company of Afognak Native Corporation has an opportunity for a Forestry Technician/Operator in Kodiak, Alaska.
The Forestry Operator/Technician position is seasonal/temporary full-time from May – September 2025.
The Forestry Operator/Technician helps in the ongoing forestry operations on Afognak Island by performing various tasks supporting the Senior Forestry Technician. Duties include but are not limited to; reforestation, tree stand improvement, and maintenance.
- Perform and assist in stand improvement operations, and pre-commercial thinning and inspections
- Perform and assist in tree planting, inspections, and reforestation compliance activities
- Assist in regeneration and stocking surveys
- Assist the Senior Forest Engineer in road and buffer layout
- Assist with infrastructure and camp maintenance
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Strong familiarity with reforestation and stand improvement
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Forestry Technician/Operator
- Valid Drivers License
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work outdoors in harsh inclement weather for extended periods of time
- Ability to live and work in a remote environment for extended periods of time
- Ability to cook and clean for own personal needs
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 year Forestry Technician Degree
- GIS and GPS proficient
Salary : $23 - $26
