Reporting Relationships: Drivers report to the Program Director
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the Program Director, Drivers are expected to perform the following principal duties and responsibilities.
- Drives vehicles in a safe and prudent manner, arriving at destination(s) via the most efficient route in light of road, weather and traffic conditions.
- Driver must ensure that all passengers are wearing seat belts and/or are properly secured in child/booster seats before departing.
- Driver must be attentive to all traffic laws and posted signs (including parking meters). Failure to adhere to signs and meters may result in driver be held financially responsible for all tickets and summonses issued.
- Driver is prohibited from using the agency vehicle(s) in any manner other than as described in his/her job description.
- Driver must maintain an active and valid license throughout his/her employment with the agency. If the driver's license becomes inactive (suspended or revoked) for any reason he/she must notify his/her immediate supervisor immediately. If driver fails to reinstate his/her license within 5 business days, he/she will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
- Checks vehicle(s) on a daily basis to assure that they are in acceptable operating condition; monitors daily mileage and assesses oil, gas and washer fluid levels, and condition of tires, brakes, windows, lights, etc.
- Completes required paper work, including daily logs and route sheets, petty cash reports, etc.
- Performs a variety of duties incidental to driving vehicles (e.g., picks up petty cash from the bank and/or makes small deposits, takes vehicles for repairs, makes small purchases at the direction of the Executive Secretary and/or Supervisor of Family Safety, picks up public donations for the program residents, etc.)
- When not actively engaged in duties described above, may be assigned to assist other staff, as determined by his/her immediate supervisor.
- Performs other related duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
Minimal Qualifications:
Degree Requirement: High School Diploma or equivalency and at least three (3) years’ experience as a driver.
Possession of a valid New York State driver's license free of any outstanding violations.
Other Requirements:
- Familiarity with the New York Metropolitan area
- Must possess sensitivity, tact, and resourcefulness.
- An eagerness to assist clients in a nonjudgmental, empathetic and compassionate manner.
- Must demonstrate responsiveness to cultural differences and a commitment to the value of cultural competency.
- Ability to develop and maintain appropriate boundaries.
- Excellent organizational, time management and writing skills.
- Experience working with DHS and other service providers, Preferred.
- Experience providing case management services to families with children referred from DHS.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of New York State and City pay transparency laws. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individuals’ competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience and performance in the role.
Compensation
The base salary compensation being offered for this role is $46,355.
