Reporting Relationships: Shift Supervisor report to the Operation Manager and/or Program Director.
Position Summary: Shift Supervisor provide 24-hour security coverage to the facility to prevent theft and ensure the safety of both the facility staff, and residents.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the Program Director, Shift Supervisors are expected to perform the following principal duties and responsibilities.
- Oversees operations of facility, including emergencies.
- Supervise and train Residential Aides with performing various day to day tasks.
- Coordinate and schedule floor post as well as lunch/breaks for Residential Aides.
- Participate in operation department’s team meetings.
- Provide ongoing feedback to Residential Aides through coaching, mentoring and one-on-one supervision as directed by the Program Director.
- Register new clients, orient them to the facility, and ensure that all mandated documentation is completed and distributed appropriately.
- Perform random locker searches, as directed by the Program Director.
- Delegate and support Residential Aides with the completion of room inspections, wellness checks, garbage sweeps and kitchen assignments.
- Verify meal delivery receipts for accuracy.
- Shares information with the appropriate Case Manager and the Program Director regarding changes in client’s behaviors, requests, concerns, and grievances.
- Review logbook, shift report and provide briefings to incoming shift supervisors.
- Maintain an account of all walkie-talkies, room key cards, metro cards, laundry cards and client’s belongings on shift.
- Ensure pack-ups are completed and accurately divided into clothing, personal documents, and valuables.
- Provide timely and effective responses to client emergencies according to DHS incident training protocol and notification process.
- Ensuring access control, surveillance, safety, and documentation of compliance with AAPCI, DHS and HRA’s regulations including but not limited to the verification of client’s arrival and departure from the premises, maintaining an accurate bed count in the facility, and documenting curfew violators, violations, and incidents.
- Distribute and control inventory of client supplies, including the distribution of meals on all shifts.
- Participate in training and staff-development activities to acquire and maintain both the interpersonal and operational skills necessary for successful job performance.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Program Director.
Qualifications
Minimal Qualifications:
Degree Requirement: Associate Degree in a related field with at least two (2) – three (3) years’ experience in a related setting or,
- High School Diploma or equivalency and at least three (3) – four (4) years of related experience in a shelter setting.
Supervisory Experience managing a team of 4-8 members.
Residential Aide work experience for a period of at least 2 years with a documented history of progressive responsibilities.
Other Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills with focus on providing excellent client services.
- Strong written communication skills and ability to complete reports, as assigned
- Demonstrate ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with a diverse community of residents, program staff and external vendors.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and apply problem solving skills.
- Experience working collaboratively in a team oriented and outcomes focused environment.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of New York State and City pay transparency laws. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individuals’ competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience and performance in the role.
Compensation
The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $45,000 to $50,000.
