What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Director position at African People's Education & Defense Fund?
Tasks:
- Oversee the work of the Master Gardener, staff, Garden Committee and volunteers to ensure all goals and timelines are implemented
- Monitor project progress and performance, making adjustments as needed to ensure success and interface with the USDA representative
- Facilitate communication and collaboration with external partners.
- Prepare reports and presentations to showcase project outcomes and impact to the board and stakeholders, and prepare interim and final reports to the USDA
- Engage with the community to promote projects and gather feedback
- Oversee the grant budget, and request drawdown of funds in coordination with APEDF staff
- Work with evaluator to ensure data collection and recording of outcome indicators of the grant
- Oversee the design and distribution of educational materials
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, standards, and applicable regulatory requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Characteristics:
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels
- Experience in managing budgets
- Proficiency in project management software and productivity tools to track and report on project progress
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
- Has a valid Driver’s License
Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment using standard office equipment
- Walking short distances, sitting and/or standing for short or extended periods of time
- Handling/grasping documents or office equipment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field or equivalent experience; a master's degree is a plus
- Proven experience in project management, preferably within the nonprofit sector
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
