Job Description

We are seeking a Kitchen Team Member to assist with food preparation, cooking, and overall kitchen operations at our food truck and pop-up events. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about cooking, eager to learn new skills, and ready to contribute to a collaborative kitchen environment. Flexibility and adaptability are key, as this role requires working at various locations and events.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation and cooking of traditional African dishes.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, equipment, and utensils.
• Follow recipes to ensure consistent food quality and presentation.
• Ensure proper food storage and adherence to safety and sanitation regulations.
• Support inventory management by monitoring supplies and informing the team when restocks are needed.
• Help with packaging and serving food to customers when required.
• Contribute to setting up and breaking down the kitchen during events.
• Maintain positive communication with the team to ensure smooth operations.
• Be flexible and willing to work at diverse locations and events, as this is a food truck that travels to various venues.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen operations (preferred).
• Familiarity with or willingness to learn traditional West African cuisine.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and take direction.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Must be willing to work at various locations and events, as the food truck operates in different areas.
• Food Handler Permit (or willingness to complete training upon hire) is a plus.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary, Seasonal

Pay: $13.91 - $14.59 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 40 per week
