Hourly Rate range is $22-$26
Hours: Monday-Friday from 10AM-6:30PM (Subject to change)
Basic Assignment: The Program Coordinator will lead and manage an After-School All-Stars, Los Angeles (ASAS-LA) site that ensures a safe and dynamic program environment that educates, enlightens, and inspires youth in an after-school setting.
Qualifications:
- Experience working in a leadership or supervisory capacity in an afterschool, day camp, or youth-based organization.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with School District staff, public officials, private sector officials, parents, and community leaders.
- Familiarity with quality criteria for after-school programs.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment.
- Respond to critical incidents and act promptly in an emergency situation.
- Excellent organizational and managerial skills.
- Must be proficient with computer software programs (i.e. Microsoft Office Software).
- CPR and First Aid Certifications.
- Provide proof of clearance for DMV H-6, and Tuberculosis.
- Must clear Drug Test and DOJ/FBI Live Scan.
- Fluency in a language other than English is highly desirable.
- Must possess a High School or General Education Diploma (GED). A baccalaureate degree in education, social or human services, child development, recreation, or a related field is desirable, or equivalent work experience in education, youth development, and or human services desirable.
Major Functions:
- Supervise all staff and volunteers in the ASAS-LA program at a site, and provide access to meaningful and relevant professional development opportunities.
- Assist site staff in embedding the ASAS-LA Mission and Vision into the daily implementation practices at each site
- Responsible for providing a safe and adequate program environment conducive to an enriching and intentional educational experience for students.
- Oversee all aspects of day-to-day programming, including immediately reporting emergency situations, and personnel conflicts to your Operations and Grant Manager (OGM).
- Responsible for recruitment, hiring, and supervising effective program staff capable of managing and leading a classroom environment of up to 20 students.
- Responsible for preparing, collecting, reviewing, and submitting completed new hire employee packet.
- Ensure implementation of all ASAS-LA initiatives through observations, and trainings at site and organization level.
- Must be an active committee member in at least one ASAS-LA initiative.
- Collaborate and participate with school day initiatives that are relevant to after-school programming, including youth leadership, service learning, tutoring programs, back-to-school events, and other activities taking place after school.
- Assist ASAS-LA with conducting surveys for periodic program evaluations, including parents, staff, and students.
- Maintain positive and open communication with program personnel through on-site weekly meetings and periodic program assessments.
- Responsible for effective program planning throughout the year that includes session planning, development of class selections for students, site visits, culminating events, monthly calendaring, collaboration with core day initiatives, and “real-life” experiences for students.
- Maintain positive and open communications with school administration and faculty through monthly meetings, as well as with parents and other stakeholders of the school’s immediate community through quarterly meetings.
- Responsible for scheduling site staff and approving payroll on a bi-weekly basis.
- Responsible for submitting check requests, purchasing supplies, reconciling the program supply budget, and updating inventory on a quarterly basis.
- Responsible for registering students and labeling program activities on the CitySpan database.
- Daily review of students’ sign-in sheets and deadline submission protocol as stated by ASAS-LA.
- Responsible for maintaining student participation (dosage) and average daily attendance (ADA) throughout the year via recruitment and retention activities, including student “voice and choice” strategies to meet grant requirements.
- Responsible for monthly submission of Principal signed meeting agenda, staff meeting agendas, site calendar, and observation tool.
- Available to work evenings and weekends.
- Attend all required management staff meetings, chapter meetings, and school site meetings.
- Travel to off-site meetings, trainings, and events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
