About the Role:
Digital Dreamers STEAM Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and imaginative Theater Instructor to lead after-school drama classes for elementary students. This role is perfect for someone who loves storytelling, performance, and inspiring creativity in young learners through the art of theater.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and facilitate weekly theater classes for TK–5th grade students in a supportive and engaging environment.
- Introduce basic acting techniques, improvisation games, vocal exercises, and stage presence.
- Encourage collaboration, creativity, and confidence-building through group activities and role-playing.
- Guide students in short performances, skits, or showcases when possible.
- Create a fun, safe space for self-expression while maintaining a structured classroom atmosphere.
- Communicate regularly with program staff and site coordinators.
Requirements:
- Prior experience teaching theater or drama to children (preferably elementary age).
- Strong background in acting, directing, or performing arts.
- Excellent classroom management and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for youth education, creativity, and the performing arts.
- Must be available 1–2 hours per week during the after-school hours in Fall 2025.
- Must pass a background check and provide professional references.
Schedule & Commitment:
- Classes are held once a week for 1–2 hours in the afternoon.
- Program runs during the Fall 2025 term at Las Lomitas.
Location: Las Lomitas, CA
Bonus (Not Required):
- Experience leading student showcases or small performances.
- Knowledge of children’s theater literature and age-appropriate scripts.
- Background in creative writing, stagecraft, or movement-based theater.
