Position Summary

Ag Express Electronics is seeking a skilled Electronics Quality Control Technician who will be responsible for ensuring all assembled electronic components and products meet company and industry quality standards. This role is crucial for performing inspections, testing, identifying defects, and collaborating with the production team to maintain high-quality output.

This role is located at our Sulphur Springs, Indiana location.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection & Testing

  • Conduct thorough inspections and testing of electronic assemblies, components, and finished products using visual checks and testing equipment.
  • Verify adherence to specifications, schematics, and quality standards.
  • Use multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools to identify functional issues.

Defect Identification & Troubleshooting

  • Identify and document defects, inconsistencies, and non-conforming materials.
  • Work with the Electronics Assembly Technician to correct issues before final approval.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and provide recommendations to prevent recurring quality issues.

Process & Documentation Compliance

  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and defect reports.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality processes and external regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in refining quality control procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

  • Recommend and track KPI’s for departmental quality control visibility and improvement.
  • Provide feedback to production teams on quality trends and areas for improvement.
  • Participate in quality audits and contribute to process enhancement initiatives.
  • Support training efforts to improve quality awareness across the department.

Safety & Standards Adherence

  • Follow proper handling procedures for electronic components, including ESD protocols.
  • Ensure all products meet safety, performance, and reliability standards before release.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Proficiency with inspection tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proven communication skills, both verbal and written, necessary for effective collaboration with coworkers and managers.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with demonstrated ability to use good judgment in demanding situations.
  • Positive approach to navigating challenges with a solutions-oriented approach, ensuring customer satisfaction. 

Education And Experience

  • Education: Associate’s degree in electronics technology or proven equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Experience in electronics quality control, testing, or a related field preferred.
  • Certifications: Preferred; IPC J-STD-001 (Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies); IPC A-610 (Acceptability of Electronics Assemblies)

Physical Requirements

  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to manipulate small components, connectors, and wires with precision and accuracy during the assembly and testing of electrical systems.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally, the role may involve lifting and carrying equipment, tools, or materials weighing up to a certain limit.
  • Standing and Walking: Some tasks may require standing and walking around the facility for limited periods of time, such as collaborating with coworkers and testing certain equipment.
  • Visual Acuity: Good eyesight and visual acuity are important for reading technical diagrams, inspecting electrical components, and identifying intricate details during the repair and testing process.
  • Sitting for Extended Periods: Much of the work may be conducted at a desk or workstation, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods while performing tasks such as repairing electronic units and testing equipment.
  • Repetitive Motion: Some tasks, electronic assembly, or testing may involve repetitive motions of the hands, arms, or fingers. Ergonomic practices should be followed to minimize the risk of repetitive strain injuries.
  • Safety Awareness: Awareness of and adherence to safety protocols and procedures is essential when working with electrical systems and equipment to minimize the risk of electrical hazards or accidents.
