Summary
As a Field Technician at Ag Metrics Group, you will play a vital role in conducting field research and supporting our scientists in various agricultural projects. This position is essential for advancing our mission of improving crop production through innovative solutions.
Responsibilities
- · Field/Crop care – seeding, planting, weeding, hoeing, staking, tying, pruning, fertilizing, harvesting, installing/repairing irrigation, watering
· Field/Crop clean up: removing plants, stakes, irrigation, plastic mulch
· Greenhouse maintenance: weeding, cleaning, helping with repairs
· Landscape maintenance: weeding, pruning, checking irrigation
· Collecting samples of leaves, fruit, roots, soil, etc. in numbered bags
· Perform maintenance sprays and fertilization with management direction
· Crop production duties include field layout, tillage, crop establishment activities, and timely irrigation through harvest to commercial farming standards
· Attendance at continuing education training to improve expertise in pesticide handling, pest management, and test system refinement
· Maintain diverse planting of vegetables, trees, shrubs, vines, perennials, grasses, and bulbs
· Hand water and monitoring of irrigation systems of field station plantings
· Seasonal landscape work including pruning, clean-up, transplanting, leaf removal
· Scout for pests and disease
Requirements
- High School diploma
- Proven experience with power tools, hand tools, and farm machinery.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely; forklift certification is a plus.
- Experience in agricultural settings or related fields is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
