Summary
We are seeking a Pathologist to join our team at Ag Metrics Group. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting research in breeding, physiology, production, yield, and management of crops and agricultural plants or trees, shrubs, and nursery stock, their growth in soils, and control of pests; or study the chemical, physical, biological, and mineralogical composition of soils as they relate to plant or crop growth. May classify and map soils and investigate effects of alternative practices on soil and crop productivity.
Responsibilities
- Execute the clients’ disease assays.
- Prepare and apply pesticide mixtures for research purposes.
- Work with the pathology/nematology team to execute laboratory, greenhouse, and field research on target pathogens
- Monitor experiments, collect samples, and record real time data for pathology/nematology experiments
- Utilize knowledge of pathogen and nematode biology to manage assays with novel pesticides against target diseases and nematodes
- Maintain colonies a variety of nematode species to provide populations for efficacy studies
- Maintain library of pathogen cultures to provide populations for efficacy studies
- Manage the greenhouse space to provide plant material for pathogen and nematode needs
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Pathology, Nematology, Horticulture, Plant Science, or a related discipline
- 3 years of Greenhouse experience required
- 3 year of experience in a research environment
- Familiarity with the agricultural crops and environment
