Job Title: Sr. Accountant/Financial Analyst
Department: Administration
Reports to: CFO and CEO
Summary: Assists in the planning, organizing, assembling, and controlling the accounting and control function of Ag Plus and Synergy Feeds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Supports Ag Plus's stated Vision, Mission, and Business Values.
- Projects a positive attitude to customers and employees at all times.
- Read and follow company employee policies.
- Provides outstanding and courteous customer service. Assists customers as needed in understanding statements, payments, and charges, conferring with locations to ensure appropriate communication and resolutions, not duplicates.
- Maintain a fixed asset register: record new assets, transfers, or retirements, calculate monthly depreciation figures, and reconcile them to the general ledger.
- Fleet management, including filing with appropriate agencies. IFTA; MCS150; IRC; 2290 & vehicle registration.
- Process and review the integration of data from fuel station systems into the ERP system, investigating discrepancies. This includes the Site Controller system, the CFN system, and the Heartland system (national credit cards).
- Assist Managers in researching discrepancies in inventory for their location, such as missed transfers, missing deliveries, duplicate vendor invoices, missing customer sales, incorrect counts, or month-end cutoff issues.
- Prepare and review monthly reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts to ensure compliance with GAAP. These accounts may include cash, brokerage, prepaid, accruals, and grain accounts.
- Assist in compiling data and preparing statutory monthly/quarterly/annual filings, including Indiana and Ohio Sales Tax, Fuel Use Tax, Fertilizer and Seed Tonnage reports, and Soybean and Corn Checkoffs.
- Manage workload to ensure all activities are accurately completed within established timeframes and deadlines.
- Serves as backup for various functions, including payroll processing, accounts payable, cash receipts, end-of-day, and daily banking activity.
- Assist in all company audits, including annual financial, insurance, and state and local taxes.

- Continuously review processes, tasks, and the timeframe needed to provide a smooth flow of information to management and recommend improvements to the CFO.
- Conduct ad hoc analyses, special projects, and other duties as directed by the CEO or CFO.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from a four-year College or university with a major in accounting or business. CPA certification is preferred but not required. Three to five years' experience in auditing/accounting is preferred.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or business community members. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, plane and solid geometry fundamentals, and trigonometry fundamentals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a knowledge of accounting software, Database software, Internet software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
