MUST HAVE PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WORKING IN A GENERAL RESIDENTIAL OPERATION FOR CHILDREN OR A RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT CENTER FACILITY FOR CHILDREN AGED 10 - 17 YEARS OLD.
As a Caregiver at Alijah House Children Services, you will leverage your knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide exceptional care to children dealing with emotional disorders and related physical conditions. You will need to understand resident needs, having deep knowledge of working with children dealing with emotional disorders, understanding their needs, and the appropriate treatment approaches. You must be proficient in first-aid, behavior management, and maintaining personal and environmental hygiene. You should be able to follow and implement the policies and procedures of Alijah House Children Services. Actively engage in the care and life skills training of residents, including teaching proper eating, bathing, dressing, grooming, and other self-care skills.
Participate with professional staff in the design and implementation of training and programmatic activities, and perform established care and programmatic activities. Respect the rights and personal dignity of all residents. Accurately observe, record, and report clients' behavior, attitudes, and physical conditions. Perform simple math and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Maintain effective working relationships with residents and other employees. Provide 24-hour supervision and meet the daily care needs of residents. Prepare and cook well-balanced meals. Dispense medication to clients and document accordingly. Maintain all log books and related documentation. Conduct monthly fire drills (both day and night-time) and practice evacuation procedures. Complete incident reports for all injuries and perform observation checks when residents are sleeping. Ensure the safety of all residents at all times. Attend and transport residents to appointments and activities. Assist with the coordination of outside services and care for residents. Perform other reasonable duties as requested. Minimum qualifications for direct care staff include having a high school diploma or GED, being at least 21 years of age, able to pass a background check, and able to pass a drug test. Additional requirements include proof of a valid Texas Driver's License, access to reliable transportation, proof of valid/current auto insurance (for hired employees who transport clients), cleared criminal background check, cleared TB test results (current within 12 months prior to employment), cleared drug screen, training in Emergency Behavior Intervention/Crisis Prevention, and a reliable mode of contact (Cellphone, Email, etc.).
