What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler Trim position at Agcor Steel?
Overview:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Material Handler is responsible for packaging/staging finished product as well as assisting with the production of roll formed trims in a safe and efficient manner to meet internal and external customer needs.
Essential Functions:
- Promote and drive safety-first culture, ensuring the safety of employees, contractors, and visitors
- Know and follow safety and emergency procedures as needed
- Routinely perform quality checks ensuring customer is provided with complete and damage-free product
- Adjust roll form dies accordingly and produce specified roll formed trims
- Set up and operate snap lock machine and produce specified customer orders
- Wrap/band/crate, label and stage finished products
- Complete all daily orders
- Actively communicate with all department team members to ensure materials tracking compliance and efficient and steady production flow
- Maintain clean work area and workstation prep throughout shift
- Complete housekeeping and workstation prep tasks prior to end of shift
- Assist with performing preventative maintenance on machinery as needed
- Troubleshoot and/or notify immediate supervisor of machine breakdowns or issues
- Maintain and/or update department visual tracking production schedule board
- Cross-train on other machines in the department
- Provide support in meeting and/or exceeding department and plant goals such as safety, quality, scrap prevention and operational excellence
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills/Experience Requirements:
Ability to
- Properly utilize and maintain all personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Read and write

- Read a tape measure, perform basic mathematical calculations as well as use a calculator

Preferred attributes

- Previous field-related, forklift and/or manufacturing experience
