Exercise Specialist

Qualifications

Conduct personal training sessions with clients and exercise sessions with patients by providing guidance and instruction on proper exercise techniques and form. Must have good skills in verbal and written communication, listening, coaching, health awareness, patient care, self-development, teamwork, effective environment awareness, multi-tasking and coordination.

Responsibilities

Support physical therapy service delivery by preparing the treatment area, managing patient equipment and materials, guiding patients through exercise routines and programs, performing directed physical therapy procedures under the supervision of a physical therapist.

Prepare and assist patients for physical therapy treatment by welcoming, comforting, motivating, inspiring, patients and clients to achieve their fitness goals.

Design and implement exercise programs for individual clients or groups and help them achieve their health and fitness goals

Have good knowledge of the human body to ensure safe and effective exercise programming and provide information to patients and clients by answering questions and requests

Lead fitness classes and create engaging and challenging workouts for clients of varying fitness levels and provide exercise coaching to individuals while focusing on improving performance and achieving specific goals.

Prepare treatment rooms for patient following prescribed procedures

Help treat patients by applying heat packs, paraffin dips, assisting patients to treatment areas, helping patients onto exercise equipment, monitoring motion, tracking walking time and distance, measuring mobility, performing prescribed exercises and strengthening techniques as directed.

Have excellent communication skills and educate patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise routines including educating patients and clients on body mechanics and proper movement patterns to prevent injuries during exercise.

Maintain patient privacy and protect operations by keeping information confidential.

Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Provide supplies to treatment area, positioning equipment for therapist access including positioning patient on equipment

Ensure operation of physical therapy equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements following manufacturer’s instruction, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.

Maintain physical therapy supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies.

Serve and protect the clinic by adhering to professional standards, clinic policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and professional organization standards.
