What are the responsibilities and job description for the State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) Counselor position at Age Well?

The State Health Insurance Program Counselor works with the SHIP Coordinator to carry out activities of Age Well’s State Health Insurance and Assistance Program. SHIP personnel may temporarily work additional hours during preparation for, and during, the annual Medicare Part D Open Enrollment Period.
· Help Medicare beneficiaries make informed decisions about their health coverage.
· Provide accurate, objective, and confidential health insurance information about federal, state, and individual insurance programs and plans.
· Provide information about filing Medicare and Medicaid appeals and make referrals to appropriate organizations for assistance with appeals.
· Provide information and make referrals to help with preparation of documents and direct contact with insurance companies and CMS on matters relating to explanation of benefits, overcharges, denials of coverage, and appeals.
· Conduct health insurance presentations.
This position is fully remote with some occasional office work.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree, or combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired and three years’ experience in related field.
