ACTS partners with many academic institutions to provide students, currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate coursework, an opportunity to gain 'hands on' experience as they pursue a degree in the human services field.
ACTS has many field placement options that include an array of services and populations served.
- Acute Care/Crisis Services- Adult and Youth
- Outpatient Services- Adult and Youth
- Veteran's Services
- Residential Treatment Programs- Adult and Youth
- Supportive Housing Programs
- Criminal Justice/Offender Programs?
Working under the supervision of an assigned site/clinical supervisor, interns will have opportunities to observe, learn and/or demonstrate various tasks related to the human services field. These tasks include, but certainly are not limited to:
- Empathetic communication with clients regarding addiction, mental illness, and recovery
- Client admission and orientation process
- Administration and interpretation of screening/assessment instruments
- Development of treatment or service plans
- Individual, group, and/or family counseling sessions
- Discharge planning
- Referral/linkage to community resources, including social, legal and educational providers
- Interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
- Clinical supervision sessions
Currently we have internship opportunities for:
- Behavioral Health Technicians (for those enrolled in an Associate's level program)
- Counselors(for those enrolled in a Bachelor's level program)
- Detention Screeners (for those enrolled in a Bachelor's level program- Criminal Justice)
- Therapists(for those enrolled in a Master's level program)
