This position is onsite at our Tampa, FL site.

Characteristics of Position:

This position is responsible for carrying out detailed maintenance, observation of premises for needed upkeep and repair, and construction services  and related tasks as well as coordinating time on projects.

  • Administrative - Precisely documents events and transactions specific to job duties in approved Agency formats; understands and adheres to program operating procedures.
  • Technical - Utilizes Agency communication devices and information technology as a business tool; proficient, as required, in the use of Outlook, Datis, Train Caster, KIS and related IT systems and  software applications.  Business Acumen - Adheres to Agency Policy.
  • Professional - Behaves ethically; presents a professional image in appearance, communications and demeanor; adheres to Agency scheduling Policy; follows program activity schedules; committed to personal professional development.
  • Analytical - Assist in gathering information about basic and community living of maintenance or food services needed.
  • Leadership - Seek to participate in effective approaches and training to enhance job skills; seek opportunities to mentor new staff; ability to recognize unsafe behaviors, situations, and environments to maintain the safety and well-being of persons receiving services, staff and community members.    

Pre-requisite Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or the equivalent and three years experience in building maintenance work. 
  • All ACTS, Inc. employees must be able and willing to work when expected to accommodate program and/or agency needs, participate in the agency's Quality Improvement Program and attend all assigned/required trainings, practice on-the-job safety at all times, and demonstrate the ability to communicate and work with others and be respectful of peers, supervisors, clients, guests, etc. If required by contract or administrative rule, must fully participate in NAPPI (crisis intervention) training and able to apply same to work setting.

Physical /Safety/Health Considerations:  Bend, stretch, twist, reach with your body, arms, and/or legs, standing, walking, carrying, stooping, crouching, noise, lifting 80-100 lbs., the elements, extreme heat and cold

Quality of Work Expected:       Level commensurate with satisfactory Maintenance Service performance

Quantity of Work Expected:   Commensurate with level necessary to fully meet obligations 

Scope of Responsibilities:  The primary duty is to perform maintenance, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting or other repair procedures. 

Supervision: Work is performed under the supervision of the Maintenance Director. This position does not provide supervision to others.    

Core Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Complies with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area.
  • Observes the premises for needed upkeep/repairs and follows up as directed.
  • Participates in the development of work procedures with regard to maintenance, buildings, construction and properties.
  • Develops a working knowledge of air conditioning and heating systems.
  • Maintains quality standards of cleanliness and sanitation of assigned facilities.
  • Completes lawn care, general maintenance, painting and other minor repair procedures.
  • Operates commercial lawn equipment and hauls lawn care equipment to worksite via trailer.
  • Ensures tools and equipment are maintained and in good working order and lawn care equipment is scheduled for routine preventive maintenance, inspects lawn care equipment for necessary repairs.
  • Performs related work as required /assigned.
  • Maintains basic knowledge of and performs maintenance, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting and other services, and related tasks as needed.
  • Remains current in training and performance of Pest Heat Bug Eradication equipment.
