Agency Insurance & Financial Services is an independent insurance agency located in Portage, MI. Our agency provides errors and omissions insurance to insurance agencies in over 40 states. We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting & Human Resources Administrator to join our team and oversee key financial and human resources functions that support our business operations.
Job Summary:
The Accounting & Human Resources Administrator will be responsible for financial reporting, tax compliance, cash management, and HR functions, including payroll, benefits administration, and regulatory compliance. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to ensure compliance with both financial and HR regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Financial Management:
● Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements.
● Manage and file tax forms, including 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC, and 1096.
● Coordinate annual workers’ compensation audits and collaborate with auditors.
● Prepare quarterly retention reports and condensed financial statements.
● Maintain cash flow by recording deposits, reconciling accounts, and monitoring financial transactions.
● Pay carriers and vendors on a timely basis.
Human Resources & Payroll:
● Approve bi-weekly timecards and process payroll through MyPay Solutions.
● Ensure all employee records, background checks, and compliance documents are complete.
● Oversee benefits administration, including open enrollment and health plan renewals.
● Manage retirement plans, including SIMPLE IRA contributions and compliance reporting.
● Stay updated on employment laws and compliance requirements.
Operations & Compliance:
● Reconcile and analyze monthly financial and policy reports.
● Ensure accurate policy renewal data.
● Assist with unemployment claims and termination of retirement plans.
● Assist with state annual report filings.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
● 3 years of experience in financial management, accounting, HR, or a similar role.
● Strong knowledge of payroll processing and HR compliance regulations.
● Proficiency in financial reporting and reconciliation.
● Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills.
● Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
