Each Local Coordinator is a global expert who represents Agent Au Pair and cultural exchange in their community while working part-time from home as an independent contractor and supplementing their income.
What is an au pair?
An au pair is a young person who lives with a host family and provides childcare and in exchange for room and board, and a stipend. Au pairs are between the ages of 18-26, single, and without children. They travel to the USA on a J-1 Visitor Exchange Visa, to immerse themselves in American culture and practice their English. Au pairs are assigned a local coordinator who provides mentorship and guidance in the USA.
What do local coordinators do?
Local Coordinators support American host families and their international au pairs during their 12-month program year together.
LC' s are responsible to monitor the placement of the au pair and provide customer service to the host family while upholding program rules and regulations.
Local Coordinator Primary Responsibilities
- Uphold the U.S. Department of State Au Pair Regulations and philosophies
- Initiate monthly personal contact with each au pair and host family
- Maintain a record of monthly contact and a monthly communication log
- Interview host family members in their home prior to au pair arrival
- Provide feedback on the host’s Household Guide to set them up for a successful program
- Video call the au pair within 48 hours of arrival to ensure their safe arrival
- Facilitate the agency’s orientation process with the host family and the au pair within the first two weeks of arrival
- Conduct fun, engaging monthly meetings your au pair cluster and provide a report with communication logs
- Answer common questions as the main point person for program participants
- Follow our conflict resolution process in case of potential problems
- Facilitate Zoom support calls as assigned by your regional manager
- Promote agency programs within personal networks and community groups
- Refer families to host and earn a $500 referral bonus! *restrictions apply
The Ideal Candidate
- 25 years old
- Must submit and pass a background check
- Must be a U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must live within a one (1) hour drive from job posting location
- Drivers License and access to a personal vehicle
- Access to a personal smartphone and WhatsApp account
- Access to reliable home wifi, laptop and personal Zoom account
- Flexible evening and weekend availability
- Willing to commit to the position for a minimum of one (1) year
- Comfortable working as an independent contractor
- Background in education, ESL, social work, childcare, or parenting a plus
- Passionate about cultural exchange
- English language proficiency; is a plus but not required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to navigate conflict resolution and de-escalate high stress situations
