ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job Overview: The Automotive Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles to ensure their optimal performance and safety. This role involves working with various vehicle systems, including engines, brakes, transmissions, electrical systems, and more. The mechanic will use advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify mechanical and electrical problems and implement effective solutions. A successful candidate must have a strong understanding of automotive technology, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Diagnostics & Troubleshooting:
    • Diagnose vehicle malfunctions using diagnostic tools and equipment.
    • Identify mechanical and electrical issues and determine necessary repairs or maintenance.
  2. Repairs & Maintenance:
    • Perform routine maintenance services such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake replacements, and fluid checks.
    • Repair or replace worn or broken parts, such as engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and other automotive components.
    • Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure vehicles are safe and functioning optimally.
  3. System Overhaul:
    • Overhaul major vehicle systems, such as engines, transmissions, and differentials, as required.
    • Perform advanced repair techniques, such as engine tuning, alignment, and reprogramming of electronic systems.
  4. Technical Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of services performed, parts used, and labor time for each vehicle.
    • Review technical manuals and vehicle service literature to ensure accurate and up-to-date repairs.
  5. Customer Interaction:
    • Communicate effectively with customers to explain repair needs, estimated costs, and repair timelines.
    • Provide recommendations for future vehicle maintenance based on wear, condition, and service schedules.
  6. Safety & Compliance:
    • Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • Proven experience as an automotive mechanic or in a similar role.
  • Certification from a vocational school or completion of an apprenticeship program is preferred.
  • ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, repair tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to perform complex repairs on various types of vehicles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Skills:
  • Proficient with computerized diagnostic tools and automotive software.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
  • Effective communication skills for explaining technical issues to non-technical customers.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift heavy vehicle components and parts (up to 50 lbs or more).
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions.
  • Comfortable standing, bending, and working in tight spaces for extended periods.
