Job Title : Sr Financial Analyst
Location : Hybrid to Reston, VA
SUMMARY
Agile-Defense is an award-winning business with an immediate opening for an experienced Senior Portfolio Financial Analyst Lead in government contracting responsible for all project financial functions, including budgeting, revenue recognition, project setup validation, variance analysis, and reporting for government and commercial contracts.
The Senior Portfolio Financial Analyst Lead reports to the Sr. Director of Finance but works closely with the Portfolio Manager to provide the financial data and analysis necessary to ensure departmental milestones and goals are met. The Lead assigns projects and manages staff in the day-to-day performance of their financial responsibilities. This role identifies and reports financial risks that could lead to variances from approved budgets and offers solutions to mitigate those risks. Additionally, the Lead provides guidance and consultation to new or junior-level project managers on financial best practices. This position requires collaboration with members of Finance, Accounting, Contracts, Pricing, and Procurement. The Lead also supports and instructs peers, equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to maintain and present accurate financial information. In some cases, the role may require direct financial support of a few key projects.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure every active project has an assigned Financial Analyst. Identify the level of resources required to provide adequate support to the projects in the portfolio.
- Participate in contract kick-off meetings to ensure project setup optimizes accounting software capabilities for project revenue, billing, and reporting utilizing DELTEK Costpoint and Costpoint Business Intelligence.
- Ensure detailed estimates at completion for assigned (FFP) projects; review with project managers and provide to project accounting at least quarterly or more often if significant changes occur.
- Prepare monthly program review presentations and, assist project manager as required, present monthly operating results to management.
- Monitor and reconcile unbilled balances on a monthly basis for the entire portfolio.
- Support development of cost proposals for bids, ROMs and equitable adjustment requests.
- Ensure the Financial Analyst team is trained adequately and is meeting all expectations for the role :
- Update monthly forecasts, perform variances analysis to the annual budget.
- Review monthly project costs and revenue, validate monthly cost accruals, monitor actual cost
