Job Summary
We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Designer to help in Engineering and Manufacturing. The position will involve interactions with shop floor and engineering. We use SolidWorks, CAM Works, and ProNest as our primary tools. This position will generate shop drawings, CNC code for machining and plasma cutting. We can train someone with the proper background.
Activities will include updating drawings to reflect manufacturing realities as well as the design of new fixtures and material handling jigs. Applicant may also provide technical documentation in the form of user manuals and shop instructions.
The ability to think on the fly and problem solve are key requirements along with solid communication skills.

Responsibilities
- Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for Parts and Shop Fixtures
- Develop the Bills of Materials for Parts and Shop Fixtures
- Assist in developing the Shop Routing of Parts thru Production.
- Coordinate and consult with other Sales and Shop personnel to design, lay out, or detail components and/or systems to resolve design or other problems
- Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
- Assisting the Production team with any technical questions that arise during manufacturing, ensuring that the designs are correctly interpreted and implemented.
- Assist customer representatives in the review of drawings and answer questions pertaining to details of the specific product.
- Lay out, draw, and produce reference manuals and technical publications to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree (two-year college or technical school) or equivalent related experience).
- 2 years related experience preferred.
- Proficiency using SolidWorks is mandatory
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Mechanical and technical skills/knowledge
- Proficient with MS Office Applications
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
- Previous experience in drafting or related field, particularly in metal manufacturing is preferred but not required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineers, production team, and clients.
