What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Specialist position at Agility Partners?
We’re seeking a detail-driven Payroll Specialist to join our Payroll team at our Charlotte headquarters. In this hybrid role, you’ll provide advanced payroll support, conduct root cause analyses, and assist with key audits and process improvements. You’ll play a pivotal part in ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing for thousands of associates across the country.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as 2nd-level support to resolve payroll work orders from the Customer Service team.
- Mentor Associates and review work order activity logs for detail and accuracy.
- Conduct root cause analysis to identify and solve payroll process gaps.
- Collaborate on solutions for payroll issues in both existing and new business contexts.
- Apply strong knowledge of payroll policies and systems (SAP, MySTAFF, MyRequests, etc.).
- Recommend and implement system/process enhancements.
- Automate workflows, document current procedures, and streamline outdated processes.
- Identify opportunities to reduce processing errors and enhance data accuracy.
- Monitor time and attendance system for off-cycle submissions and volume trends.
- Assist with internal audits and support audit improvement initiatives.
- Lead and facilitate payroll training sessions during weekly Operations meetings.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (required)
- At least 1 year of Customer Service or Call Center experience
- (Experience in a high-volume payroll environment is a strong plus)
- Strong communication and mentoring skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential setting
- Analytical mindset with a process-improvement focus
- Proficiency with payroll systems and eagerness to drive technical improvements
