Human Resources Manager

Reporting Structure
Reports to the Associate Vice President of Human Resources and Administration
Responsibilities
Operational
- Collaborate with other departments to overhaul and scale employment lifecycle operations, including reviewing hiring, onboarding, position changes, and offboarding practices
- Research best practices for timely onboarding of student employees, adjunct faculty, and artists to ensure I-9 verifications and payments are completed promptly
- Manage recruitment administration for staff positions and support Hiring Managers through drafting job descriptions, screening candidates, and scheduling panel interviews
- Collaborate with academic leadership on faculty searches and provide support where needed
- Generate reports on key HR metrics and analyze data for internal use and submission to government agencies
- Coordinate with Academic Affairs and Payroll to assess faculty contract generation and load reporting processes
- Conduct monthly reconciliation of employee benefit contributions to insurance bills
- Consult with leadership to implement best practices for maintaining digital employee files
- Represent HR on various committees as assigned
- Plan employee events such as holiday parties, service award lunches, and in-service days when needed
Employee Relations
- Serve as first-tier point-of-contact for employee relations concerns
- Build productive advisory relationships with organizational leaders
- Act as strategic advisor to influence and shape culture and human capital strategies
- Provide Employee Relations support and coaching to organizational leaders
- Triage employee relations cases using organizational policies and guidelines
- Collaborate with leadership to develop appropriate employee training programs
- Support Hiring Managers in creating orientation and onboarding programs
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Professional HR certification (PHR and/or SHRM-CP) desirable
- Minimum five years of HR generalist experience
- Demonstrated self-starter who can take initiative and work independently or as part of a team
- Proficiency with databases and reporting tools with strong data analysis skills
- Strong attention to detail when reviewing contracts, offer letters, faculty workloads and benefits invoices
- Ability to maintain complex records with commitment to accuracy
- Ability to build trust and credibility with employees at all levels
- Sound business judgment with understanding of when to escalate concerns
- Commitment to teamwork and maintaining regular communication across departments
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Salary : $85,000 - $90,000
