What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteers Needed to Deliver Meals position at Aging True Senior Services?
THIS IS A NON-PAID POSITION
Summary:
This is an opportunity to volunteer regularly with Aging True’s Meals on Wheels department to deliver meals in a safe and timely manner with exceptional care, while providing the highest level of customer service.
A volunteer route typically covers less than 10 miles and can be completed within 60 minutes. Meals on Wheels volunteers pick up meals from one of 11 designated drop sites in Duval County and deliver them on the same route at least once a month. We ask that Meals on Wheels volunteers commit to one delivery route a month, but ideally, volunteers would be able to perform this delivery route on a weekly basis.
Meals on Wheels delivery drivers must provide their own transportation and will be responsible for communicating with their drop site volunteer coordinator. We have an urgent need for meal delivery driver volunteers in the Riverside, Arlington, Ft. Caroline, and San Pablo/Beaches areas.
About Us:
Since 1962, Aging True - operating as Cathedral Foundation of Jacksonville Inc. and subsequently in partnership with Urban Jacksonville Inc. - has designed and administered programs to help seniors in Northeast Florida maintain independence and age gracefully.
Cathedral Foundation of Jacksonville was established by a group of St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral parishioners who were concerned about the health and welfare of the elderly in Jacksonville. Their grassroots initiative expanded in 1974 to include Urban Jacksonville as a focused community service division dedicated to the needs of seniors by providing hot, nutritious meals to the homebound elderly and disabled persons in Duval County. And throughout the years, the organization has expanded to meet the needs of the community.
In 2011, Cathedral Foundation of Jacksonville Inc. and Urban Jacksonville Inc. formally changed their name to Aging True to better reflect the services we provide and the seniors we serve. The name "Aging True" speaks to our support and celebration of independent, graceful aging through our comprehensive programs and services - what aging should be.
Today, Aging True is one of Northeast Florida’s largest non-profit providers of senior services and a leader in enabling home-based senior independence. Helping to maintain people's independence is the cornerstone philosophy of Meals on Wheels.
