Agios Pharmaceuticals is searching for a motivated and proactive Summer Intern to join our Formulation Development and Manufacturing team. We want someone who is interested in the pharmaceutical industry and in exploring and expanding their knowledge in drug product development . The internwill work onsite at Agios Headquarters in Cambridge, MA. The intern will perform laboratory experiments and research, with the guidance of a mentor in the formulation group, to support the expansion of formulation capabilities in the group. The ideal candidate will have a willingness to learn and participate, ask questions, and effectively communicate with members in the group. Experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry is a bonus, but not required.

What you will do:
- The candidate will learn about drug development, oral solid dose formulation design and manufacturing
- Gain experience with formulation development laboratory equipment (such as compaction simulator, shear cell, friability tester, blender, tablet press, pan coater)
- Maintain a well-documented electronic laboratory notebook (ELN), and retain organized notes, analysis, and presentations
- Be able to work independently at times, and be proactive in asking questions
- Give a final presentation on the summer’s work to a company-wide audience
- Must be currently enrolled in an academic program (undergraduate or graduate degree)
- Majors in the following backgrounds: Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Material Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioengineering, or related field of study
- Effective communicator (written and verbal)
- Experience with designing, conducting experiments and maintaining a lab notebook.
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and make connections
