Hazardous Waste Technician

Overview:
Our Company specializes in the manufacture and distribution of environmentally sustainable, agricultural grade pesticides. We have a strong desire to minimize our economic impact, and one of the ways we drive this standard is through exceptional attention to detail in our waste production and management. We are seeking a Hazardous Waste (HAZWaste) Technician to assist our Hazardous Waste Management Specialist in collecting, organizing, labeling and shipping our internally generated HAZWaste.

Responsibilities and Duties:

· Inspect and identify hazardous materials.

· Transport hazardous waste to designated collection sites.

· Assist in maintaining accurate records of waste materials.

· Ensure zero-defect compliance with safety regulations.

· Collect samples of potentially hazardous materials.

· Assist in the cleanup of hazardous spills.

· Train to conduct emergency response activities in accordance with HAZWOPER protocol.

· Assist in adherence to regulations for a Large Quantity Generator.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

· Experience in Hazardous Waste Management:

-- Experience with other controlled material waste streams will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

· Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations

· Strong attention to detail.

· Excellent organizational skills

· Ability to work in high-risk environments.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· High School diploma or equivalent.

· Familiarity with hazardous waste handling procedures.

· Ability to lift and move heavy materials.

· Basic computer skills.

· Valid driver’s license.

· Reliable transportation.

· Be able and willing to pass a background check and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

· Hazardous Waste Operation and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification a plus.

· Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) 30- or 40-hour a plus

· Certification in hazardous waste management a plus.

--Certification in other controlled waste streams may be considered.

· Forklift experience or license a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
