General Summary: as a member of the Residence Life leadership team this position is responsible for residential operations and facilities, oversight of the room assignment process, implementation of developmental and inclusive programming for students specifically focused on leadership development, community development, crisis management, and development and support of graduate assistants and resident assistants. Reports to the Director of Residence and serving as part of the department's leadership team, the Assistant Director helps with the overall management and operations of the College's residence life and campus housing program and works with students, staff, parents, facilities staff, food service, and on and off campus contacts.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Serves as an administrator of the eRezLife Housing Management Software and provides oversight of the entire housing selection and assignment process and all billing related matters.
  2. Oversees office's official opening and closing of all residential facilities as well as managing the 12-month coverage needs of the residence halls operations.
  3. Partners with facilities staff and campus services in the oversight and management of community spaces, resources, and finishes; including the monitoring of usage, improvements, work orders and key inventory.
  4. Manages the daily operations of the central office by leading administrative tasks and procedures in support of the Office of Residence Life, which includes hiring, training, supervising and evaluating graduate and undergraduate student employees.
  5. Participates in the on-call duty rotation and responds to the students in crisis and distress according to the college's response protocol
  6. Contributes to the planning and implementation of Residence Life events including RA training and in-services with an emphasis on curriculum and leadership development, coordination of the annual departmental calendar of events, and social media platforms, webpage and other marketing materials.
  7. Initiates, processes, submits, and maintains records for requisitions, purchase orders, reimbursements and monthly reconciliations.
  8. Collaborates with community members - within and outside of the division - to address residential student issues, needs, and concerns.
  9. Fulfills other duties as assigned a required by the Director of Residence Life and/or the Vice President for Student Affairs to meet the goals of the division and department.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree, Master degree in higher education administration, leadership, or related field is preferred; previous residence life experience is desired

  • Ability to supervise individuals from different backgrounds towards the goal of an inclusive, supportive educational environment.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the relationship between facilities, services, and residential life.
  • Strong administrative and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, public speaking, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks; and an ability to work within a collaborative environment and with diverse populations.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships and apply principles and practices to strategically align tasks and people with organizational goals.
  • Strong administrative skills with an emphasis on student and professional staff development.
  • Budgetary experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, and occasional moving of light objects. Work is performed in an office.
