HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THIS ROLE (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
- Process Patient Related Accounts Payable
- Determine Agrace payment responsibility for claims received from external providers and obtain appropriate authorization, route claims, and follow-up on outstanding balances.
- Prepare and verify vouchers for payment for contracted services.
- Work with clinical leaders to determine hospice-related expenses and provide guidance on insurance coverage.
- Prepare, code, and enter claims into AP system.
- Prepare remittance for AP payments.
- Reprice claims according to contracted rates.
- Process denials for charges not covered by Agrace.
- Provider, Patient and Family Relations
- Answer questions from providers, patients, and families related to patient benefits and eligibility, provide direction regarding submission of claims to Agrace or insurance carriers.
- Follow-up with providers regarding known services provided that remain unbilled.
- Other Duties
- Participate in internal work groups, meetings and committees relative to position responsibilities.
- Serve as back-up and support other department staff as needed.
YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
- Medical billing/medical claims processing experience highly preferred
- Associate degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience
- EPIC experience preferred
- Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others
- Experience using industry specific software
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to be flexible in time and task to meet organizational needs
- Ability to maintain confidentiality about patients, families, caregivers, staff, donors, and organizational intellectual property
- Ability to use proper body mechanics and standard precautions
