River Point Farms is seeking a highly effective Controller II to oversee the daily finance and accounting functions for the assigned business unit. The Controller helps maintain good internal controls to protect company assets and prepares forecast and budget information to be loaded for consolidated reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain complete and accurate accounting records.
- Oversee finance and accounting functions to include journal entries, reconciliation, financial reporting, as well as operating and capital budgets and forecasts.
- Participate in month-end closing for multiple company ledgers.
- Perform proper review to ensure that accounting records are accurate, complete and ledgers are closed in a timely manner.
- Analyze and provide operational management accurate and key financial information.
- Ensure internal controls exist and are monitored and reviewed to adequately mitigate risk inherent in key processes.
- Work with field finance groups, corporate team, and other business units on accounting, reporting, and analysis projects.
- Manage the finance and accounting staff and facilitate opportunities for professional development.
- Lead and participate in a variety of projects including process improvements.
- Ensures Company policies are followed, and all transactions are in accordance with US GAAP.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; MAcc, MBA or equivalent preferred.
- CPA, CMA or other relevant professional certifications strongly desired.
- 5 years progressive professional accounting experience required with previous supervisory responsibilities; public accounting (audit) experience a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of and experience applying U.S. GAAP
- High competency with ERP accounting software, spreadsheets, databases, data extraction, and MS tools. Infor and/or Lawson experience helpful.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills with demonstrated ability to work well with senior management.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting reporting deadlines.
- Travel approximately 10% between various office and/or field locations, with occasional international travel.
- Manufacturing/Agriculture industry background and Spanish and/or Portuguese language ability preferred.
