What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Continuous Improvement position at AgReserves, Inc.?
AgReserves, Inc. is seeking the Director of Continuous Improvement (CI) to spearhead the development and execution of CI strategies and initiatives across the organization, including Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. The CI Director collaborates closely with teams and leaders across the organization to craft and deploy a comprehensive CI program in alignment with the CEO’s strategy to drive organizational performance enhancements.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, plan, prioritize, and execute strategies and opportunities for improvement that align with the company’s CI goals and objectives.
- Drive the CI culture through the organization by creating and implementing a framework of CI principles, processes, and tools to be applied across the organization.
- Influence leaders and all levels of employees to adapt the culture, framework, principles, process and tools across their teams.
- Work independently and with organizational teams to lead the identification or creation of CI tools for the business which could include handbooks, training materials, process mapping, dashboards, certifications, SOPs, etc.
- Review processes and procedures across divisions to establish CI opportunities and priorities.
- Work with each operational team to create roadmaps for the development and implementation of the CI system.
- Own the implementation of the CI program which includes leading the training, overseeing the review of processes, identifying and proposing CI initiatives, executing the CI initiatives, assessing results, soliciting and resolving concerns from the local operational teams, and further refining the CI system.
- Establish objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), and other metrics to measure the outcome of the CI initiatives, including producing tools for visualization and management.
- After implementation of a CI methodology or execution of a CI project, perform a closed loop analysis, report results and recommend improvements to executive, divisional, and local teams.
- Plan and budget for capital projects relating to the CI initiatives (e.g., new technology or equipment changes).
- With the aim to reduce waste, amplify efficiency, and elevate quality standards, analyze key company processes and procedures, recommend improvements, and implement approved projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in food science, agriculture, business, engineering or related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 10 years progressive experience in production management with direct proven experience in continuous improvement methodologies, e.g., Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, root cause analysis, value stream mapping, etc. Blackbelt certification preferred.
- Experience within the Ag and/or food processing industry preferred or knowledge of food processing equipment, regulations, and standards, experience in manufacturing, farming, or related environment acceptable.
- Proven experience creating, implementing, and leading process improvement programs successfully in a processing/manufacturing environment.
- Strong demonstrated interpersonal skills with ability to motivate others and work in team of peers to achieve a common strategy aligned with corporate direction.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills. Bilingual Spanish skills strongly desired.
- This is an in-office position. Eligible candidates must be willing and able to work at the Salt Lake City, UT office daily.
