Summary:
Berberian Nut Company is seeking a results-driven and motivated Production Clerk to join our Walnut Processing team. The Production Clerk supports the leadership staff to ensure compliance with all employee health, safety, environmental and food safety initiatives at the plant. The Clerk coordinates with local leadership to provide employees with the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources to work safely and efficiently. A successful Clerk stays current with applicable regulations by researching and participating in leadership and vendor discussions.
Responsibilities:
- Provide general administrative support to management to aid in compliance with corporate policies and government regulations.
- Assist with event planning, meeting coordination, and note taking.
- Enter, track and monitor employee training attendance.
- Ensure optimal performance of all food and safety programs.
- Improve job-task and employee safety by continuously improving the company's safety culture.
- Collect, organize, and report on safety and food safety programs/documents (JSAs, safety observations, near misses, safety meeting minutes, etc.)
- Create and submit reports to the local management team.
- Analyze and report on all safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); utilize Lean and Six Sigma tools to improve safety as part of the Production System.
- Maintain and propose visual management methods to communicate safety and food safety metrics with shift employees and Management.
- Review, upkeep, and maintain applicable safety manual and documents.
- Transcribe and translate work procedures and various documents.
- Assist in safety and food safety trainings by preparing sign-in sheets, test preparation, etc.
- Coordinate safety trainings based upon the Safety Training Matrix.
- Assist leadership on championing a best-in-class safety program by promoting consistent safety training attendance, compliance with all OSHA and company/industry policies, as well as encouraging the use of PPE and adherence to all other EHS programs.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent. College degree a plus.
- 3 years of experience in a processing or manufacturing environment with proven ability to execute action plans that achieve company goals.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Excellent multitasking, organizational, and technical skills including proficiency with Microsoft tools and data entry.
- Strong demonstrated customer service, interpersonal and professional communication skills. Bilingual Spanish desired.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations such as OSHA.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles/processes and safety regulations in a manufacturing setting.
