AgReserves, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Ranches Division Finance Team. This position is located at Deseret Cattle & Timber outside of Panama City, FL. The Sr. Accountant will report to the Senior Controller and support the Division Finance Leadership team by assisting with the oversight of accounting functions, performing financial analysis, and enforcing internal controls in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in supervising and training staff and supporting their professional development.
- Maintain complete and accurate accounting records.
- Prepare journal entries and conduct reconciliations of the production system inventory, balance sheet accounts, as needed and for company mandated deadlines.
- Prepare and provide general ledger reporting and analysis to ensure accounts are properly stated.
- Ensure that accounting records are accurate and complete with ledgers closed in a timely manner.
- Create, analyze, and present monthly financial and operational reports to the Controller and local management.
- Actively participate with management in preparation of annual budgets.
- Advise managers in financial matters where appropriate.
- Assist with process improvement and project development oversight.
- Monitor budget variances, and important trends.
- Ensure internal controls exist to adequately mitigate risk inherent in key processes (AP, AR, etc).
- Monitor and assist operations in regular inventory physical counts and reconcile inventory between database and system.
- Provide direct assistance and support in the annual financial statement audit and income tax filings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related degree required.
- Master's degree in related field and/or CPA, CMA or potential candidate preferred.
- 2-5yrs experience in accounting; audit and/or payroll experience helpful.
- Solid leadership skills with previous supervisory experience.
- High competency with accounting software, spreadsheets, databases, data extraction, and MS tools.
- Previous (Lawson) Infor or other ERP experience helpful.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, production performance monitoring and analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, written and verbal across departments and locations.
- Drive to take initiative and manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Ability to influence without authority.
- Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills a plus.
