Deseret Farms of California is seeking a highly strategic and analytical Senior Controller to manage and execute the day-to-day accounting functions practices for the assigned business units which includes Berberian Nut Company. As a strategic finance partner to the operation, the Sr. Controller is responsible for ensuring good internal controls to protect company assets and prepare information for consolidated reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as strategic partner to the operational management team ensures that analytics are accurate and appropriate for operational decision-making including operational plans, capital investments, pricing decisions, contract negotiations, etc.
- Oversee finance and accounting functions to include journal entries, reconciliation, financial reporting results and forecasts.
- Maintain, monitor, report and prepare annual operating and capital budgets and forecasts.
- Coordinate with auditors and respond to audit issues.
- Confirm internal controls exist, are monitored, and reviewed to adequately mitigate risk inherent in key processes.
- Ensure company policies are followed, and all transactions are in accordance with GAAP.
- Partner with personnel company-wide in supporting efforts to standardize and simplify business processes and in implementing finance initiatives.
- Assist with finance process improvements and project development.
- Supervise the accounting staff in daily responsibilities ensuring cross training in various functions.
- Overall budget responsibilities for the business units.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Accounting or equivalent degree required; MAcc, CPA, CMA or equivalent strongly preferred.
- 8 years progressive accounting, supervisory, and manufacturing/agriculture industry experience required; public accounting audit experience desired.
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP with high competence with ERP systems, accounting software, spreadsheets, databases, and data extraction.
- Previous Infor Lawson use preferred.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Bilingual Spanish/Portuguese helpful.
- Ability to travel locally between various office and field locations and occasionally to international operations and HQ.
- This is an in-office position; eligible candidates must be willing and able to work onsite at the Chico office daily.
