What are the responsibilities and job description for the Management Trainee - Treasure Valley Grain position at Agri Beef?
The Management Trainee serves in a multi-disciplinary role and is involved in all operational aspects of Treasure Valley Grain including steam flake grain production, grain handling and logistics, grain procurement and merchandising, and office-related functions. This individual will work closely with management and the operations team to develop the necessary skills to contribute to the future success of Treasure Valley Grain. Excellent communication and leadership skills are needed in this role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Demonstrate understanding of all roles at Treasure Valley Grain by working one-on-one with management, operations, and office staff.
- Participate in feed production by learning all operational aspects of the steam flake mill including start-up and shutdown, measuring performance relative to expected specifications, and completion of preventative maintenance.
- Assist in the continuous improvement and adherence to a robust preventative maintenance program.
- Follow and ensure compliance with safety policies, standard operating procedures, and best management practices.
- Ensure the performance standards and quality control procedures on incoming and processed grain are met.
- Participate in weekly inventory and production planning to ensure adequate inventory of processed grain for both internal and external customers.
- Participate in all aspects of grain procurement and merchandising including communication with growers and customers, contract input, tracking of shipments and receipts, and final contract settlement.
- Develop understanding of regional and national grain markets including both cash and futures trading and hedging of corn and wheat.
- Assist in the development of annual budget including projection of capital expenditures for milling and grain handling equipment.
- Track weekly and monthly operational and financial performance versus budget.
- Maintains consistent and punctual attendance.
- Eager willingness to learn and perform all hands-on tasks necessary for the success of the team and the organization.
Qualifications:
- An associate’s degree or equivalent is preferred, but not required.
- Mechanical or millwright experience preferred.
- Interest in a career path in the agriculture industry, specifically in grain handling and production
- Strong mechanical skills highly preferred
- Solid verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with Microsoft Word and Excel and learn internal IT software programs.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather and conditions
