Verify and maintain records on incoming and outgoing shipments involving inventory. Put new inventory together for sale and disperse it to the sales floor, overstock, or back stock.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records on the loading dock, in the S/R area and outside in the yard as needed.
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers in the retail store and on the telephone. Ability to communicate with other store locations via e-mail and/or telephone daily.
- Determines method of shipment, posts weights and shipping charges, affixing correct postage and keeps record of all outgoing shipments.
- Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy.
- Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
- Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
- Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.
- Logs in all shipment of merchandise received. Routes items to departments.
- Works alongside other retail store employees to assist in location of over stock. This requires the ability to go up and down ladders to count and/or verify merchandise from over stock to fill orders.
- Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Fulfill pricing duties in accordance with all ASC procedures ensuring that all merchandise received is marked with a working barcode and/or ASC number, ready to be merchandised and sold on the sales floor.
- Deliver or route materials to departments using hand truck, forklift, or sorting bins.
- Load customers at the Bay Door with bulk items purchased.
- Maintains work area in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.
- Any and all other duties assigned by management
Qualifications & Education Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 3-6 months related experience and/or training.
- Ability to understand written and spoken instructions
- Autonomous
- An agricultural background from either previous work or personal experience is a plus
- The ability to quickly and accurately compare similarities and differences among sets of letters, numbers, objects, pictures, or patterns.
