Overview
The Grain Elevator Operator plays a crucial role in the agricultural supply chain, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of grain handling equipment. This position involves managing the flow of grain, ensuring quality control, and maintaining equipment to support food production and processing. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude and experience in heavy equipment operation. Our main office is in Hope KS, but, positions are available at some of other central Kansas locations.
Duties
- Operate and monitor grain handling equipment, including conveyors, augers, and dryers.
- Load and unload grain trucks and railcars, ensuring proper handling procedures are followed.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure safe operation and perform routine maintenance as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of grain inventory, including quality assessments and quantities received or shipped.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize grain storage conditions and prevent spoilage.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies related to food processing and handling.
Skills
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment such as forklifts and tankers.
- Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair equipment as necessary.
- Experience in food production or food processing environments is highly desirable.
- Ability to fabricate minor repairs or modifications to equipment when required.
- Strong understanding of commercial driving regulations related to transporting agricultural products.
- Familiarity with farm operations and practices is an advantage.
