Senior Loan Accountant
Position Overview
As a key member of the Accounting and Planning team, you will be part of AgriBank's mission to support the people who feed the world. This Senior Loan Accountant position provides support to AgriBank, SunStream, Foundations and Association accounting staff regarding wholesale and retail loan accounting. Support includes monitoring and reconciling general ledger accounts, creating journal entries, resolving issues and other general accounting duties.
Accounting & Planning Preparation
Retail & Wholesale Loan Processing :
- Creates and maintains client, commitment and loan record details in loan accounting system
- Monitors retail and wholesale loan portfolios for accurate rates, balances and transactional activity
- Processes and reconciles daily cash settlements for clients who are off system
- Calculates MCD rate for wholesale loans and updates system as appropriate, adjusts as need to ensure interest expense calculation is accurate
- Monitors internal and external loan accounting communication channels for actionable items and responds accordingly
Accounting Support :
Ensures wholesale and retail loan activity is posted within guidelines and researches transactions as neededAssists team members with various loan accounting questions and researchAccount Reconciliation :
Monitors and reconciles assigned accounts on daily, weekly and / or monthly basisIdentifies, researches, and resolves reconciling items, escalating items to achieve resolutionPrepares and submits journal entries to correct items discovered in reconciling dutiesResolves issues with Bank and clients, follows up on outstanding issues to ensure timely and accurate resolutionAccounting Entries :
Processes loan system and general journal entries related to AgriBank's loan portfolioPrepares and calculates entries for significant and / or complex accounting processesAccounting & Planning Coordination
Performs and participates in training for team members and processes, as neededPrepares or maintains daily / weekly / monthly tasks and proposes timelines required to meet deliverablesReviews and prepares or coordinates fulfillment of requests from Bank departments, auditors and other third partiesProject and Process Improvements
Participates in Bank and District-wide project teamsExecutes test plansReviews, recommends or leads process improvements, acting as SME when appropriateImplements improvements and documents new or revised proceduresCommunicate process changes to stakeholdersRelationship Management
Responds to client requests via District Self Service tool, email or phoneResolves client questions, concerns and communicates resolution in a timely mannerCollaborates closely with Credit team and association personnel regarding loan portfolios and asset poolsAssists clients in resolutions of accounting issues by completing research and recommending solutionsThis job description is subject to change without notice.Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field2 years of public accounting experience or 5 years of related experienceCPA preferredOr an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the jobKnowledge
Advanced knowledge of accounting including general ledger entriesAdvanced knowledge of loan accounting, cash operations, general ledger practicesAdvanced knowledge of internal controlsIntermediate knowledge accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assetsIntermediate knowledge of GAAPIntermediate knowledge of financial reporting standards and processesBasic knowledge of FCA reporting regulations and requirementsSkills

The typical base range for this role is between $68,000 - $104,000. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. The position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
