Position Overview
The Senior Vice President (SVP) Credit ensures AgriBank provides sound, constructive and profitable credit and financially related services. Under direction of the Chief Credit Officer (CCO), the SVP Credit oversees commercial lending function, providing guidance, establishing risk appetite, monitoring performance, provides leadership and direction for the Asset Pool Portfolio (including new pool programs and administration of existing pools), establishes and recommends for loan committee approval borrower exposure (at AgriBank and District levels), counterparty and industry limits, and oversees all credit and portfolio administration and management reporting activities in support of Credit department functions.
Job Functions Include:
Supervision
Provides management, direction, and leadership to assigned functions within the Portfolio Management Team
Primarily through the incumbent’s direct reports, selects, develops, motivates and evaluates the performance of a diverse team
Allocates resources in order to achieve department goals
Establishes internal processes and procedures
On an ongoing basis, monitors performance to goals and takes action to help ensure that goals are achieved
Determines division of responsibilities and provides work guidance and direction
Provides coaching and feedback relative to skills development of direct and indirect reports
Develops and monitors the budget and other financial metrics for assigned areas of the Credit Department
Credit Leadership
Leads the development and maintenance of Asset Pool program (5 distinct programs totaling $20 billion), including the development of new solutions, relationship with Association sponsors, and ongoing pool performance monitoring.
Establishes and recommends for Loan Committee approval borrower hold limits, industry limits and other portfolio limits and oversees the monitoring and reporting of these limits to management and Board.
Delegate or retain asset pool responsibilities as appropriate within the Lending Programs team
Ensure regulatory required supervisory activities are carried out effectively and efficiently (Excess and Official Prior Approvals)
Makes loan and other credit-related decisions on lending, as allowed under delegated authorities, to associations, loan participations, and other lending programs
Informs the AgriBank Board of Directors, the AgriBank Chief Executive Officer and Chief Credit Officer, and other executive management of credit direction, issues and retail loan trends
Provides management direction to other areas of the Credit group as assigned (i.e. insurance operations and Ag Risk Management group)
Credit Administration Management
Serves as Vice Chair of loan committee and has delegated loan authorities established by the Chief Credit Officer
Manages, primarily through subordinate managers, the Bank credit reporting activities related to supporting all credit functions (wholesale loans, loan participations, other financial institutions (OFI’s), and other lending programs)
Guides credit reporting team to enhance management and board reports
Develops and maintains credit and appraisal policies, standards and practices which ensure effective credit decision-making, loan servicing and monitoring and overall portfolio management within AgriBank and the District associations
Works with VP Wholesale Lending and VP Lending Programs to ensure credit administration, board reporting and credit portfolio reporting are effectively supporting all credit functions
System Leadership
Participates in and provides leadership through System committees consistent with the direction provided by AgriBank Chief Credit Officer
Strategic Leadership
Participates in making strategic decisions and setting the strategic direction for AgriBank as designated

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, agribusiness or related field
15 years of related experience
10 years of supervisory experience
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job
Knowledge
Advanced knowledge of complex loan structuring
Advanced knowledge of agricultural industry and industry lending practices
Advanced knowledge of syndications
Advanced experience in credit analysis and administration
Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, applicable laws, statues, regulations, bankruptcy code and legal concepts and terminology used in multi-lender and capital markets lending/lending strategy
Advanced knowledge of micro- and macro-economic theory both domestic and international and their practical impact on borrowers
Advanced knowledge of relationship management concepts
Skills
Expert skill in credit analysis and loan structuring
Expert skill in credit administration
Expert customer service skills, including the ability to communicate complicated information, deliver bad news effectively, and exceed customer expectations
Expert skill in thinking strategically and setting organizational and operational direction leading to positive business outcomes
Expert knowledge of agricultural industry and industry lending practices
Skill in analyzing complex technical data by using logic and quantitative reasoning
Skill in establishing and maintaining relationships with a variety of internal and external organizations and individuals to advance the organization's interests and increase personal efficacy

Skill in analyzing, integrating and documenting the business needs of multiple stakeholders

The typical base range for this role is between $240,000-$390,000. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. The position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
