Job Title: Truck Driver (Hazmat)

Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and safety-focused Hazmat Truck Driver to join our transportation team. This role involves the safe and timely delivery of hazardous and non-hazardous materials to various destinations using heavy-duty trucks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of DOT regulations, a clean driving record, and a commitment to maintaining high safety and service standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a commercial vehicle over 3 tons to transport hazardous and general materials to assigned delivery points.
- Ensure all driving activities comply with federal, state, and local transportation laws and safety guidelines.
- Accurately maintain driving logs and documentation in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Safely shift manual transmissions and operate all vehicle controls, including foot pedals and air brakes.
- Load and unload materials, clean truck compartments when necessary to prevent contamination.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns.
- Keep constant communication with dispatch or supervisors to receive route and delivery updates.
- Support plant operations or warehouse tasks during downtime or as assigned.
- Maintain a clean and professional truck appearance inside and out, representing the company positively.
- Drive in varying weather conditions, including snow, rain, and high winds, while ensuring load and road safety.
- Willingness to work extended hours and flexible shifts during peak seasons, including weekends and occasional out-of-state trips.
Qualifications:
- Valid Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA and DOT safety standards and procedures.
- Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience preferred.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and DOT physical.
- Mechanically inclined with the ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 100 lbs regularly.
- Frequently required to walk, climb, sit, kneel, and reach in and around vehicle and loading areas.
- Work is performed in outdoor environments with exposure to varying weather and airborne particles.
- Ability to work around hazardous materials and follow proper safety procedures.
Work Environment:
- Moderate to high noise levels typical of truck yards, loading docks, and industrial environments.
- Regular exposure to outdoor elements and occasional proximity to moving mechanical equipment.
- Must be comfortable working independently and in dynamic conditions.
