Job Summary:
The Agricultural Research Service is seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Technician - Biological Science to join our team. As a member of our laboratory staff, you will be responsible for conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and assisting with technical aspects of biological research activities. Your work will contribute to the advancement of agricultural research and help us develop more effective methods for improving crop yields.
Key Responsibilities:
Some of your key responsibilities will include preparing solutions and reagents, collecting blood and tissue samples, utilizing personal computers and software packages to tabulate, analyze and summarize biological data, and performing routine and recurring techniques and studies using a variety of specialized molecular equipment.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in biology or a related field, as well as experience with laboratory equipment and techniques. You should also be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Additionally, you must meet the specialized experience requirements outlined below.
- GS-06 Specialized Experience:
Qualifying experience includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-05 which is directly related to the work of this position. This may include experience assisting with technical aspects of biological research activities; performing routine techniques and procedures to research projects; and preparing solutions and reagents for use in the laboratory, field, or greenhouse. - Education:
One full year of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree, if directly related.
