About the Position:
">This position is located within the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) at the Pacific West Area (PWA) in Parlier, CA.
">The incumbent will conduct research to develop innovative approaches to control postharvest diseases of fresh fruits.
">The selected candidate will investigate the etiology, biology, and develop molecular methods for early detection of postharvest diseases affecting trade of fresh fruits.
">Additionally, the incumbent will identify pre- and postharvest factors along the production, cold storage/packing, and marketing chain that affect postharvest disease development and microbial quality of fresh fruits.
">The work involves working with microorganisms and may require wearing protective clothing and following proper laboratory procedures.
">Qualifications:
">To qualify for this position, you must have at least a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in plant pathology or a related field.
">Applicants must also have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.
