What the Role Delivers
This role contributes to the success of AgroFresh by developing and supporting technologies that prevent food waste and conserve resources.
Key Responsibilities
In order of relative importance
- Develop innovative formulations for pre- and post-harvest coatings, antimicrobials, plant-growth regulators, and other products intended for use on fruits and vegetables
- Develop and validate innovative application methods for the above
- Provide support and technical expertise to worldwide research and development and commercial activities for all AgroFresh product categories

What the Job Requires
- Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Chemistry, Surface or Materials Science, or related field
- Occasional travel (<10%)
What to Have Done and Know How to Do
These skills and experiences are highly desirable; however, they do not preclude exceptions based on an individuals performance history and demonstrated potential.
- 5 years formulations experience in agricultural chemicals (strongly preferred), food, cosmetics, or related industry
- Strong technical skills in emulsions, suspensions, and surface science
- Strong technical skills in particle size analysis and shelf-life prediction
- Ability to work independently on-site in a remote reporting structure
- Demonstrated ability to develop commercial formulations
- Knowledge of global regulatory requirements for formulations is desirable, but not essential
- Knowledge of application methods in post-harvest applications is desirable, but not essential
- Familiarity with analytical chemistry/methods is desirable, but not essential
