Intern (Fixed Term) (Trainee)

The Loss Prevention Intern Role
The Loss Prevention Intern will work closely with the Safety Manager and other members of the Plant Leadership team to ensure plant compliance with all rules and regulations. This role is responsible for maintaining safe building and equipment upkeep, as well as modeling and providing training on safe behavior for all employees.
Main Responsibilities
- Draft efficient and thorough policies and procedures, explaining technical details in plain language.
- Learn about the Agropur business model and champion improvements that increase employee safety and health.
- Stay up-to-date with current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, practices, developments, and applicable laws related to dairy manufacturing.
- Collect follow-up data to determine the effectiveness of implemented process improvements.
Assignments and Projects
- Identify and implement ways to make safety procedures and information accessible to employees.
- Update training modules and quizzes.
- Perform gap analyses for and update safety policies and procedures.
- Participate in online or local professional development opportunities to ensure effectiveness in assigned duties.
- Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or Master's program in Occupational, Environmental Safety & Health; Risk Management; or a related field, with completion expected soon.
- Make sound and consistent decisions in accordance with policies and applicable laws and regulations.
- Basic computer skills with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and field-specific software.
Work Environment
- Work in a dairy food industry plant setting.
- Collaborate closely with the internship supervisor.
- Regularly scheduled 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday.
- Must be able to travel to the work location.
