Job Title: AW609 Interiors Cabin Safety Technical Lead
Department: Engineering
Reports to: AW609 Structures Systems Engineering Manager
Location(s): Philadelphia, PA, USA with occasional travel to suppliers based in Europe.
1. Summary of Position: (Brief description of overall responsibilities and function)
Responsible for managing design and qualification of AW609 cabin interiors and cabin safety configuration. Technical focal responsible for satisfying customer and business objectives and complies with civil certification rules. Also, resolve certification issues through discussion with FAA authorities/DERs for cabin safety.
Produce high-quality deliverables including digital design data, test plans, engineering change orders, test reports, instrumentation requirements, interface requirements, configuration accountability, project status reports/forecasting, and key performance indicator (KPI) data.
2. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Specifically describe the essential duties and responsibilities with estimated percentage of time that is spent on each).
- Deliver, manage, and execute System Specific Certification Plans (SSCPs) including review, integration, and approval of designs, plans/analyses/test results to show compliance at system, component, and discipline level and to satisfy AW609 program objectives as they relate to the Cabin Safety, and Baggage Compartment Smoke Detection systems.
- Act as primary FAA interface with the responsibility to ensure design compliance, expert of FAA requirements and processes, resourcing to technical teams, local or remote, when needed
- Work in strict collaboration with the discipline Chief Projects in order to:
- guarantee full alignment to the discipline technical objectives, planning and execution of engineering design tasks performed in US
- have full access to the technical knowledge
- ensure adherence to LH Engineering best practices and processes, engaging the appropriate interfaces.
- Support Chief Projects and contribute in preparing, verifying and integrating compliance plans
- Support Chief Projects and contribute to develop means-of-compliance, to resolve certification issues through discussions with authorities/FAA DERs, to address aircraft integration issues, and to provide dispositions for flight test squawks /test article deviations for a relevant system and operating site (or perform against delegation)
- Support Chief Projects and contribute in developing, delivering and managing detailed design data, technical specifications, test plans, technical reports and ensure technical management of Suppliers for the demonstration of compliance of bought-out components/systems (or perform against delegation)
- Support Chief Projects and contribute in showing compliance to AW609 Certification requirements, ensuring proper collection, review and approval of deliverables demonstrating compliance
- Conduct aircraft-level tests (flight and ground) within the US geography and produce test results to show compliance.
- Manage proactively the changes in the design, system, and project scope, identify system critical paths and install contingency and mitigation plans as required.
- Serve as the primary communicator between multi-disciplinary teams and diverse internal stakeholders to facilitate activities directly correlated to completion of system and AW609 program milestones on-time and within scope.
- Support industrialization, continued airworthiness, customer support/training, sales & marketing, and post-TC development activities for relevant system or discipline
- Proactively manage changes in the design, system, and project scope, identify system critical paths and install contingency and mitigation plans as required.

2. | Oversee and participate in ongoing development of cabin safety features (including flammability, occupant egress, HIC, etc), and baggage compartment smoke detection to ensure optimal design for business, customer, and certification objectives, including producibility/sourcing, systems installation, kits integration, and weight improvement. | 35 |
3. | Provide airframe design support toward completion of AW609 aircraft, including the disposition of defects for structural aspects, ensuring configuration accountability, retrofitting of new designs, and ensuring engineering corrective action is taken to improve the product.. | 20 |
4. | Produce and defend high-quality deliverables including digital design data, engineering change orders, instrumentation requirements, interface requirements, material data, and configuration accountability. | 15 |

Qualifications for Position:
A. Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/ Civil/ Aerospace) |
B. Experience
1. Minimum six (6) years of aerospace experience in a technical capacity for the development of mechanical components (preferred experience with aircraft/ helicopter interiors). Experience credit can be considered for advanced degrees such as Master’s, PhD, etc. 2. 1-2 years of experience participating in FAA/EASA certification programs preferred |
