Job Title: Flight Control Systems Safety Engineer III
Department: Engineering
Reports to: Manager, Flight Control System Architecture
Location(s): AWPC Philadelphia, PA, with occasional domestic and international travel up to 10%

- Summary of Position: (Brief description of overall responsibilities and function)
The role is within AW609 Flight Control Systems team within the Engineering Directorate. The purpose of the role is to carry out System Safety Engineering activities on rotorcraft flight control systems within scope of US Product Base.
- Conduct Flight Control System safety process in accordance with ARP4761. Produce Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Design Assessments (DA), and System Safety Assessments (SSA) for FCS System that includes complex hardware and software.
- Conduct fault tree analysis
- Identify safety mitigation design, maintenance, and inspection requirements
- Support the derivation, verification, and validation of safety derived requirements
- Incorporate supplier safety assessments into company FCS safety documents
- Interface with suppliers to collaborate on complex safety topics including design and assessment methodologies and ensure high quality safety data is supplied
- Ensure Leonardo Helicopter best practices for safety are followed
- Interface with DERs, FAA and other certification authorities on FCS Safety related topics
- Collaborate with the cross-geography FCS team
