Manager Responsibilities:
As the Quality Engineer Leader, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of quality across our products/services. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leadership: Provide strong leadership to the quality engineering team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement a comprehensive quality strategy that aligns with organizational goals
- Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality assurance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Team Development: Mentor and develop the skills of the quality engineering team, ensuring they are equipped to meet and exceed quality objectives
- Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate quality-related risks, working closely with relevant teams to implement preventive measures
- Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with other departments, including R&D, production, and customer service, to ensure a unified approach to quality management
- Customer Returns: Track & categorize all customer returns for root cause analysis and validity
- Quality Engineer: Lead Quality Engineer (point person) for strategic customer accounts
- Product Control Documents: Understand, organize and align customer product control documents to meet both parties needs
Quality Engineer Responsibilities:
As a Quality Engineer at AGY, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our products and processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive quality improvements, monitor production processes, implement quality assurance measures, and visit Customers. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering products that meet or exceed customer expectations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Quality Metrics: Establish and monitor key quality performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, track defects, and drive continuous improvement efforts
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions to eliminate defects and enhance overall efficiency
- Training: Provide training to employees on quality standards, processes, and procedures to foster a culture of quality awareness and compliance
- Quality Audits: Conduct internal audits to assess compliance with quality management systems and support external audits from regulatory agencies or customers
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives, Lean Six Sigma projects, and quality-related projects
- Provide support to project development teams regarding quality issues, measurement data and measurement techniques, statistical methods and analysis, and regulatory issues
- Communicate with customers to understand and define their quality requirements. Negotiate requirements when appropriate
- Use designed experiments and FMEA techniques to identify robust processes and to improve existing ones. Obtain, verify, analyze, and present necessary measurement data to evaluate conformance to specification and to prove process capability
- Conduct statistical studies of process capability and process control, and provide recommendations to product and process engineers on how to achieve capability
- Approves work instructions, SOPs, forms, and other QMS documents
- Implement processes and tools, provide system reports, maintain and update electronic information systems, distribute approved documents, and verify accuracy of all documentation
- Review and edit documents submitted for revision changes or updates
- Oversee change notices generated internally or from customers
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:

- Must be task oriented, with the ability to adjust multiple priorities in a short period of time

Education and Experience:
- B.S. Degree in an engineering or applied science discipline preferred
- 5-7 years’ experience in the Quality Engineering/Assurance Field and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in applying SPC techniques.
- Background ISO9001 environment required. Similar quality system experience such as AS9100, ISO13485 or IATF16949 welcome
- ASQ certification preferred
