Accountant

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee our financial operations for multiple small companies and ensure compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis, public accounting, and tax regulations. This role requires proficiency in managing accounts, preparing financial reports, and leading a team with day in and day out operations . The Accounting Manager will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of our financial data and supporting strategic decision-making.

Duties

• Manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
• Oversee tax preparation and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Ensure proper documentation of all transactions including debits and credits to maintain accurate records.
• Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits to provide necessary documentation and support.
• Utilize accounting software such as Sage for reporting and data management.
• Train, mentor, and supervise accounting assistants to enhance their skills and efficiency.
• Knowledge of the Trucking industry is a plus; IFTA, Insurance Renewals etc.

*Experience*

• Proven experience as an Accountant or in a similar role within the finance sector.
• Strong proficiency in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Familiarity with accounting software is essential; experience with Sage is a plus.
• Solid understanding of financial acumen, including tax regulations and accounting principles.
• Experience in mentoring or training junior staff is highly desirable.
• Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
