PRIMARY FUNCTION

To set up and operate Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machining centers to machine metallic and nonmetallic parts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Strong understanding of precision machining
Must be a self-starter, able to work with little to no supervision
Writes simple CNC programs at the machine and can troubleshoot programs
Performs in-process quality inspections and adjust the machine when needed
Performs machine setups, as required
Collaborates with engineers, lead toolmakers, programmers, and other team members to resolve machining challenges
Interprets blueprints with knowledge of dimensional tolerances and GD&T
Performs basic machine maintenance

Requirements :

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Vocational education and / or 5 - 10 years of experience in a job shop, non-production environment

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Collaborator who works well with team members across all departments

General computer and software navigation skills

Other duties may be assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

2. Manual Dexterity and Coordination

Fine Motor Skills : Precise hand and finger movements for operating machines, measuring parts, and performing assembly tasks.

Hand-Eye Coordination : Aligning materials and tools accurately for machining or assembly processes.

3. Mobility

Bending and Stooping : Regularly bending over to load materials, inspect equipment, or retrieve tools.

Reaching : Overhead or extended reaching to access tools, parts, or controls.

Climbing : Using ladders or steps to reach higher areas of equipment or storage.

Balance : Maintaining stability while handling heavy items or navigating tight spaces.

4. Sensory Abilities

Vision : Sharp eyesight, including depth perception and color recognition, for reading blueprints, inspecting parts, and monitoring machines.

Hearing : Ability to hear alarms, machine sounds, or verbal instructions in a noisy environment.

5. Environmental Tolerance

Exposure to Noise : Tolerance for working in an occasionally noisy environment with loud machinery.

Additional Considerations

Compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, such as wearing protective eyewear and footwear.

Adherence to ergonomic techniques to reduce strain and prevent injuries.
